Great location, beautiful scenery, excellent base for exploring Northumberland. Cosy cottage, well equipped with everything we needed for our long weekend stay. Cottage had lots of little touches to make our stay special & homely. Seahouses with its harbour and super friendly locals is just fantastic. We’ll be back, had a truly lovely weekend. Thank you. The Lee Party – March 2016

Thank you for our very, very late booking. Had a great weekend in your comfortable cottage. Lovely walk from Seahouses to Bamburgh followed by fish n chips from Pinnacles. Loved the cosy evenings with the log burner and a glass of wine. Thank you ! The Humphrey’s Party – February 2016

Our 2nd visit to Breakwater Cottage and we’ve had another lovely week. No complaints or things to improve on, it was as before immaculately clean & homely. Thank you so very much. The Burgess Party – August 2015

We have had a lovely week in Northumberland and having never visited before, we shall definitely return. Breakwater is spacious, comfortable and well equipped and ideally located only minutes away from all the Seahouses amenities. The Welcome Pack was a nice touch and much appreciated – thank you. The Ward Party – August 2015

Second time at Breakwater Cottage and loved it even more this time. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Central for all our needs, would highly recommend a visit to Bamburgh Castle and walk back along the beautiful beach. Meals at the Craster Arms in Beadnell are tremendous as is the Spice House in Seahouses. The Graham Party – July 2015

Had a lovely time, cottage was excellent. We recommend The Apple Inn & Apple Restaurant for Dinner, excellent food. We will be back ! The McCormick Party – July 2015

Great cottage – very central for all the places you may wish to visit. Very relaxing and peaceful. Lovely break and we much appreciated the wine and biscuits ! The Looker Party – June 2015

Lovely cottage, exactly what we wanted. We’ve been on the beach, to Bamburgh Castle and Embleton Bay. Would recommend Trotters Bakery for lunch sandwiches and a drink in the sea lounge at Bamburgh Castle Inn. All round a great holiday. The Duffield Party – June 2015

Second time at Breakwater Cottage and it’s as excellent as ever. Thanks for the welcome goodies. The wine was much appreciated!! A great week in Northumberland, weather has been good (apart from the hailstones Tuesday). We can recommend – Pinnacles Fish & Chip Shop’ in Seahouses. Elan Pizzeria is excellent too, The Olde Ship is a fine pub in town, lots of nice beams, good food and a treasure trove of maritime memorabilia. Further afield ‘The Ship Inn’ at Newton is well worth a visit, as is ‘The Jolly Fisherman’ at Craster. You can walk from either to Dunstanburgh Castle and you won’t be disappointed!! We did the boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the seals and puffins, highly recommended. About half and hours drive away is Etal & Ford, a restored mill, a miniature steam train and a castle amongst other things. We enjoyed our day there and recommend ‘The Lavender Tea Rooms’ at Etal – great toasties!” We’ve had a fantastic week and hope to return some time soon. Many thanks xxx. The Morgan Party – May 2015

Had a lovely relaxing time ….. Thank you. X. The Woolford Party – May 2015

Fantastic Cottage! Everything practical we needed – especially with kids. Great location. Welcome pack was a lovely surprise. We will be recommending you to friends. The Baxendale Party – May 2015

We really loved our time here – perfect weather, so much to do in the area and most importantly the cottage is fantastic! Loved the Welcome Pack and the cosy feel to the cottage. Definitely recommend Elan Pizzeria – delicious! Also Lindisfarne very worth a trip, the Pilgrims Café is a must visit. Can’t find fault with the cottage – clean, comfy, everything we needed was here. Our son loved exploring all the rooms and watching the birds outside. My only suggestion to put a dustpan and brush in the kitchen – our toddler is a crumbs facility! Many thanks, we will definitely be back! The Foreman Party – April 2015

Big thank you for a lovely weekend break. Weather stayed sunny. Lovely cottage and definitely would stay again. Highly recommended ! The Blakeburn Party – April 2015

Lovely stay in a beautiful cottage, will definitely come back ! The Abson Party – March 2015

Have enjoyed staying in the cottage. Loved the stove once we got the hang of lighting it. Love the space and the well equipped kitchen. We have been lucky with the weather and the first 3 days were glorious sunshine and the light in the evenings was wonderful for photography on Bamburgh Beach. Our trip to Budle Bay and Holy Island was great. Nice takeaway – The Spice House. Thanks for the wine and cakes. It was much appreciated. The Ruxton Party – March 2015

Lovely roomy cottage in a great location. Handy for all amenities in Seahouses but in a quiet spot. Good base for exploring everything that is great about the Northumberland coastline including great pubs and restaurants nearby. The Nesbitt Party – March 2015

Leave your worries behind and head for the Northumberland Coastline. Waiting to greet you is the warmth and comfort of Breakwater Cottage. We have just spent a fabulous weekend in Seahouses, spending quality time catching up with friends. How you spend your time is up to you. Walking along the beach to Bamburgh, catching a boat trip out to the Farne Islands. Explore the traditional pubs, unique shops, restaurants and cafes. So much to do and a weekend is just not long enough. Next time we will book for a week! Thank you for a memorable weekend. The Barfoot Party – March 2015

A  short but lovely break. Really enjoyed our stay & very happy with the cottage. Had a good walk to Bamburgh Castle along the beach and had a hearty lunch at the Victoria Hotel. Would recommend a pint at the Ship Inn, Low Newton by the sea. Can’t beat a pub on the beach! Also great food at the Jolly Fisherman, Craster. A good reward after the walk along the coast to Dunstanburgh Castle from the village. People in the area are really helpful & friendly. Cheers The Roy Party – March 2015

Fabulous couple of days here at Breakwater. We found the cottage spacious and warm. Great log burner too ! Luckily we had great weather. We went to Bamburgh Castle & Beach. Embleton Beach and Craster & while there had lunch at the The Jolly Fisherman – we had booked in advance  for the Sunday lunch and also visited Mick Oxley’s Gallery and bought a beautiful painting. We found a great playground in Craster too for Charlie (aged 5) – just keep walking past the Gallery. We will definitely be back for more weekends in the future. We love Northumberland – great to be back ! x The Straw Party – February 2015

What a lovely venue for a holiday! With four adults and two young children(aged 5 and 2) there was an abundance of space to enjoy our weekend. This amount of space may make you think that it leaves a cold, empty feeling but it is far from it… it is homely, cosy and beautifully finished. It posed as the perfect base for trips out too; only a few hundred metres from the main front in Seahouses and a couple of miles up the road from the beautiful beaches of Bamburgh. All I can say is that we look forward to booking again and enjoying the riches that Northumberland and Breakwater Cottage has to offer. The Graham Party – February 2015

Had a wonderful break. We all loved the cottage including our two young boys and could not have felt more at home. Our every need was accommodated and we felt truly spoilt. We will definitely be recommending Breakwater to family and friends. Thank you for everything ! The Carr Party – January 2015

Loved the cottage. Great stay, had a relaxing 5 days and loved the walks. Always good to come back. The Drummond Party – December 2014

Loved the cottage – very cosy on an evening with the wood burner. Very spacious and comfortable. The Christmas Tree was a lovely touch! We’ve had a lovely pre-Christmas Break before the madness begins. Would definitely come back – Thank You. The McDonald Party – December 2014

Very comfortable stay. We’ll certainly be back – Thank you ! The Marsden Party – November 2014

We had a lovely time and the best weather! Thank you for a superb stay ! – The Aitken Party – November 2014

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Breakwater, the cottage has such a nice feel. The kids had a great time, being out on the beach and looking for creatures in the rock pools, but the bit they liked best – the cottage! I didn’t realise how big it is inside or how close it is to the harbour. Its a great spot and with everything we could have wished for made for a very relaxing break. I’d forgotten how breathtaking the sight of Bamburgh Castle is, just up the road and the view across the beaches with Holy Island in the background – it is truly jaw dropping. We’ll be back! The Porter Party – October 2014

Lovely, relaxing time in a great location – Will be back. Thank you x. The Reed Party – October 2014

A comfortable, spacious cottage (a bit of a Tardis !). Very clean and well appointed. The cottage is handy for local shops and amenities and there are ample places to eat within walking distance. Off road parking is a must for us so a ‘tick’ there too. The area is great for walking, sight seeing, history etc. What’s not to like !! The Quipp Party – October 2014

We have had a lovely weekend – many thanks. We loved the beach & will definitely return ! The Sanderson Party – September 2014

Firstly, I totally fell in love with Seahouses & the locality. Felt at home immediately. Locals lovely. I cannot express how much I enjoyed our walks on the beach to Beadnell & the other way towards Bamburgh I can only imagine that walking bare footed in the sand dunes at the foot of Bamburgh Castle was comparable to a white sandy beach in the Maldives. My favourite place was Dustanburgh Castle. I could have stayed forever. Breakwater Cottage was just lovely. Perfect for us and our needs. The kids occupied the downstairs rooms and my best friend Helen and I bagged the beautiful bedroom upstairs. Fantastic kitchen by the way. A joy to cook in which we did a few times. My parents stayed the other side of town and we met up & had some lovely meals at the Bamburgh and also the Old Ship. We’ll be back ! The Riley Party – August 2014

We love this part of the country and have been many times but have found a gem in this cottage – a perfect family holiday home. Would definately recommed Elan Italian and the Serenity Boat Tour. Hope to be back ! The Pennock Party – August 2014

Wonderful cottage, very light and spacious. Ideal location to investigate the area from. Visited Alnwick, Bamburgh Castle and spent loads of time on the beach which the kids loved. Very good eating places like Elan Pizzeria and The Spice House just a couple of minutes away. Definately thinking of another visit in the future. The Graham Party – July 2014

Had a lovely time, cottage spacious and comfortable. Weather couldn’t have been better ! Many thanks. The Jaques – Morgan Party – June 2014

We had an amazing time! We will be back. Love the cottage. So big !! The Philipson Party – June 2014

Wonderful cottage, like a tardis. Very clean and comfortable, we had a very relaxing time. Visited Alnwick and our favourite book shop ‘ Barterbooks’, had a fab bacon buttie. Had a great day at the beach, boy’s enjoyed the surf. A rainy visit to Berwick finished off our week with a lovely lunch at the Artscentre. Thank you for a lovely stay, it was a great find, hope to come back soon. The Orme Party – May 2014

Gorgeous cottage – had a fab time. Loads of places to see and visit. Farne Island boat trip excellent. Elan Pizzeria was 2 mins away, perfect food and friendly staff. Ship Inn pub was lovely atmosphere and great views across the harbour. Hope to be back soon! The Doherty Party – May 2014

Lovely cottage, very spacious and comfortable. Great central location. Weather was lovely so we spent our time walking on the beach towards Bamburgh Castle and on the coastal path towards Seahouse Golf Course. Took a boat trip to see the puffins ( this was amazing – take your binoculars) and went to Alnwick Castle and Gardens. The Garraway Party – May 2014

Ideal location for travelling around the area. Excellent accomodation, very clean, well equipped and very comfortable beds. An ideal base for touring this area of outstanding beauty. Enjoyed our first stay at Breakwater Cottage. The lounge area was a great space for a group of friends  to sit together, have a laugh and a jolly good catch up with the log burner blazing away. We’ll be back ! The Charlton Party – November 2013

We have enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage is very comfortable with everything we needed and we also appreciated the good range of shops in the village. We enjoyed a lovely walk through Howick Hall Gardens to the beach, followed by an excellent tea in the tea rooms there. Other activities have included rock pooling, crazy golf and a walk to Bamburgh Castle and back. In terms of improvements a shaver socket would be useful. All in all, a very pleasant week! The Schlich Party – October 2013

Lovely week here in Northumberland. Recommend Alnwick Castle & Gardens. Loved Bamburgh Castle. Enjoyed Fish & Chips at Neptunes. Drove over to Holy Island – highly recommend! The Scanlan Party – September 2013

We have had a great week at Breakwater. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well – equipped and very easy for everything in Seahouses & the amazing beach. Alnwick Castle is very good for a day out as is Alnwick itself. ( Barter Books is worth a visit just to see the size of it) Bamburgh Castle, Whitestone Farm and Ford Etal also great for the kids. Many thanks for a great stay! The Greenwell Party – September 2013

I loved my stay at Breakwater Cottage. The castles were nice and the beach was great.  I had a lovely time. We went to Holy Island and I thought it was really good. Also I loved Elan Pizzeria and I recommend The Farne gift shop. I bought a bodyboard and and had lots of fun on it at the fab beaches. I enjoyed the sweets from the shop Bit-a-Sweet ! I wish I could stay longer. Written by one of our young guests from The Murray Party – August 2013

Lovely Cottage – had a great week here, weather was kind to us too. Children enjoyed Alnwick Castle & Gardens – especially the ‘ broomstick flying lesson’. Well worth getting the castle ‘unlocked’ we did 2 days there. Sunset trip to the Farne Islands was fantastic. Pubs good too, Bamburgh good for beach. Thank you. PS – Bamburgh Castle Inn does a good Sunday Carvery!! The Tanner Party – August 2013

Great cottage. Thank you so much. Very spacious & comfortable. WIFI would be a great improvement – everything else fab. The area is fantastic. As families with toddlers we enjoyed : – Alnwick Gardens, the steam train at Ford/Etal, boat trip to Farne Islands ( we used Serenity – v good), Bamburgh Castle, Cragside and the lovely, quiet beaches. So much to see & do. We’ll be back ! The Durham/Wilson Party – August 2013

We had a most comfortable 4 night stay, we have both fallen in love with the property and would love to return. Amazed at the sheer size as the approach from the front is most deceptive, it is a veritable Tardis and a most clever refurb.  The Fidler Party – April 2013

Amazing stay! Wifi would complete the whole package. Lovely Village. Lovely Cottage. The Blundell Party – April 2013

Had a lovely stay although weather not too good! Everything else was fab, this is our 2nd stay at Breakwater and we’ll be back again soon. The Williamson Party – March 2013

The Palfreman Party – October 2011

Spacious, clean & comfortable .  It is a very pleasant area and we did enjoy our stay.  I liked the fact that you provided information on the area before our arrival plus there was a 10% discount offer for Bamburgh Castle which we thought was very good and made use of. The Murray Party – September 2011

Clean and bright and as seen on the website. Its a great part of the world and we think we picked the right base for us. A tiny thing but the towels provided were  small – but really overall it was a great cottage and we would return and felt it was in immaculate condition. The Goodman Party – September 2011

The cottage was of a fantastic standard, beautifully decorated and clean. The kitchen offered everything which was needed, which isn’t always the case in self catering cottages. The bedrooms were huge and the living room meant there was so much space for everyone to live for the week comfortably. The TV with Sky+ was fantastic for the children when it rained. The bathroom and shower were fantastic. A real pleasure to stay, and it was hard to leave ! The Pledger Family – August 2011

Clean and spacious with more facilities and higher quality contents than expected. Very clean and a great big TV & lots of gadgets. Superb value for a central property, all immaculate.   Mrs Nicolson – May 2011

I really enjoyed the weekend in Seahouses, the cottage is in a great location.  The accommodation itself was excellent and I would certainly recommend the same to anyone looking to stay in the area.  The property is very spacious and warms up very quickly, which was good as it was quite cold outside by the time I got there.  We did brave the cold on Saturday to go on a boat trip to see the seals, something none of us had done since we were at school!  Mark Stephenson – Jacksons Law Firm – Mar 2011

Well impressed – will defo be booking again! Watched the rugby on your big TV with a few glasses of wine , doesnt get any better! Adam Goodwin – Feb 2011

Very good, very spacious, and comfortable, well appointed with good facilities overall ! MF – Feb 2011

If like me, your partial to a bit of Northumberland countryside, check out Breakwater as a great base for walking and exploring. The walks gave us proper rosy cheeks and we have very happy memories of our week at Seahouses. – Rosie Garwood  – Dec 2010

Had a great time thanks, really enjoyed it – It’s a lovely place and we would definitely go again and recommend it to friends! Thanks again.  – Tracy Anderson – Nov 2010

The cottage was well equipped; spotlessly clean & had all you could need.’ You get what you pay for ‘ as we say!  I thought it was quite expensive for a weekend stay, but the comfort and spaciousness, easy access to local area sights etc , balanced that out. Well worth it. An ideal location for exploring the area; would be able to say that what you see on the website is actually surpassed by the reality. –KM – Oct 2010

I found the details of Breakwater Cottage via Twitter, a risk but that was well worth taking! Me and 5 other girls thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break and felt extremely welcome. We were also welcomed with a lovely gift from Mark which all adds tremendous value. Would highly recommend to any group of friends or family looking for a relaxing break, facilities were all top notch!

Thanks for renting us your lovely cottage, it is beautiful. We have had a fantastic weekend & hope to come back soon.  – Guest 2010

A fantastic place to stay – bright, airy & clean, great base to explore, especially the castles! Many thanks. – Guest 2010

The cottage was spacious and near the supermarket and the little shops. It was very clean and good value for money. We will definitely consider Breakwater for our next break. Thanks. – Guest 2010
